Recommended by our reader, "crstrob": "The Forgetting: Alzheimers, Portrait of an Epidemic" by David Shenk
"Tears in God's Bottle" by Wayne Ewing Review by an Amazon reader- Like a modern day biblical story. Ewing gives hope and encouragement and perspective to Alzheimer's caregiving. Using scripture and personal perspectives a story of increasing faith and love emerges out of the devastation of Alzheimer's disease. This book is a love story, a story of faith and most of all a story of hope. Whether you are a person of faith or a person who is struggling with the why of Alzheimer's, this book is a MUST read. Alzheimer's Early Stages: First Steps for Family, Friends, and Caregivers ("crstob"'s favorite help guide) by Daniel Kuhn (I have pages marked throughout this book) A Dignified Life: The Best Friend's Approach to Alzheimer's Care by Virginia Bell and David Troxel As a professional in the Alzheimer's field, as well as a family caregiver, I have read dozens of books on caring for people with Alzheimer's disease. Though there are many excellent ones (Claudia J. Strauss's "Talking to Alzheimer's" and Bell & Troxel's "The Best Friends' Book of Alzheimer's Activities" are other favorites), this is the first book I most recommend to anyone on the challenging journey of caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease. It is simply superb. L. Arbuthnot When Someone You Love Has Alzheimer's-by Marilynn Larkin My mother was recently diagnosed with 'early stage' Alzheimer's, and this book has been a great starting point for my family to figure out where we go next. It covers the whole gamet of the disease, and has just about everything you'd ever want to know about what to expect as the disease progresses. by dpierce80 Young Hope: The Broken Road by Tracy Mobley This is the best book I've read written from the side of the person with alzheimers. After reading this book, I actually hugged the book to my chest. You can't help but feel the pain caused by this cruel disease. I will read this book over again to make sure I didn't miss anything. It should be a "must read" for everyone to help all of us understand what this disease does to everyone. J LaJoy "Joyce43" Alzheimer's--A Love Story (I really associated with this one - "crstrob") by Ann Davidson A Curious Kind of Widow: Loving a Man with Advanced Alzheimer's by Ann Davidson (sequel to her first book)An intimate portrayal of a loving couple's struggle to accept the ravages of Alzheimer's while continuing to celebrate life and each other. A caregiver for her husband during the later stages of his disease, Ann was determined to stay in loving contact, but also to build a new life for herself. Amazon review
